Barely There is a solo devised from the work I have been doing to reconcile and reconsider my relationship with dance. As I find myself in a position of questioning/doubtfulness/scepticism towards working in this field of dance and choreography, ideas of giving up, disorientation and unseeing have become important to me.
The set-up of the work relies heavily on the specificities of the room it finds itself in, specifically, the cast of objects that are already present in the room. This is only one version among many possible versions: various training/educational equipment like skipping ropes, elastics, tennis ball, skeleton as well as things found lying around like a plastic bottle, spray bottle, wash cloth, floor lamp...

Devising scores also forms an important part of the work by putting repetition and variation into play, starting from the instruction: imagine your hands are attracted to everything and want to touch everything. Through devising scores, I aim to (among other aims) produce a sense of ambiguity through the possible meanings that arise out of the relationships between body, objects, gestures, images, sounds, ...
Barely There was created as part of my final year Bachelor Project at the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen. It has been since presented at Graw Böckler Garage in Berlin, Det Frie Felts Festival in Copenhagen, and Biennial Performative Arts Meeting, by Moving (Re)union in Lisbon.
