Skimmed Words is a performance that works with dance and spoken language to illustrate and illuminate the stage’s amazing capacity for change. The performance uses poetry and fiction as methods for speech, song, dance and choreography. We work with different scores for body and voice. We touch the theater space with our hands and bodies. We whisper, sing and shout our experiences of what is being touched. Fiction enters the stage when we go from articulating our observations to pulling from associations and our imaginations. The walls become a forest, the audience becomes lollipops and the stage lights become a dozen shimmering suns. We show how speech acts act on our bodies as we move through these worlds. Skimmed Words dances and shouts its way into the infinite potential of fiction, returning to us our childlike capacity for imagination.
Skimmed Words will premiere as part of Dansehallerne’s programme in Fall 2024.
